Client Background:

This start-up company aspired to reduce contraction frequency and intensity while sleeping, a time when such discomfort is likely disruptive to the restorative benefits of sleep. By incorporating light therapy into a familiar, comfortable yet affordable wearable device, both the frequency and intensity of the contractions could potentially be reduced.

After developing a working concept and filing a patent, the client approached Concise Engineering to progress the device through the next phases of development.

Client’s Request(s):

The client requested we manage their outsourced engineering resources and assist in the identification of a manufacturer in readiness for mass production.

Project Actions:

In addition to the services listed above, Concise Engineering developed a prototype for use in Clinical Trials.

We also proposed design changes to incorporate a more robust yet flexible circuitry, as well as the inclusion of RF welding in the construction of the device, to reduce manufacturing time and expense.

Outcome:

Concise Engineering delivered several variations of the product (color, shape, material) to aid in a down-select of finished-model variants.

The device is now production-ready and supported by an ISO 13485-certified contract manufacturer.
